Dell M6700 XM 3920 hard drive options
Hello.
I'm putting in new ssd in my laptop, can you tell me if I can use...
250GB Samsung 840 EVO Series mSata (MZ-MTE250BW)
and
500GB Samsung 840 EVO Series ssd (MZ-7TE500BW)
If this will work, I was thinking I would put my operating systems on the mSata
and use the 500GB ssd work my design models.

Ok, so if I'm reading your response correctly...
The 250GB Samsung 840 EVO Series mSata (MZ-MTE 250BW) and the
500GB Samsung 840 EVO Series SSD (MZ-7TE500BW) is compatible and will work in the Dell M6700 3920XM
Ok, can you explain the procedure to change the SATA operation to AHCI on the system, so that I can put the mSata card as the boot drive.
Or direct me to that information.

Hi sssking,
Dell precision M6700 is compatible with both mSATA card and SSD drive on the system. You will need to change the SATA operation to AHCI on the system so that you put the mSATA card has a boot drive.

Hi sssking,
Please follow the below steps for changing the SATA operation on the Dell system.
Turn on or restart the computer.
Immediately at the Dell logo screen, starting tapping the key once a second until the BIOS screen pops up.
Using the right arrow key move to ‘Advanced’ tab.
Using the down arrow key move down to ‘SATA Mode’ and press ‘Enter’ button.
Change the SATA operation in BIOS from Intel Smart Response to AHCI.
Save changes in BIOS.
Reboot the system.
Now please start the Windows installation and choose the mSATA card partition for installing the Windows.

Hello,
I changed the SATA operation to AHCI in the BIOS, but it is possible I didn't save changes.
I installed windows. The next day I thought to check the BIOS, and when I did the SATA operation was set to
RAID On and not AHCI.
Do I need to start over again, Wipe the drive of windows, redo the BIOS and reinstall windows?
