Dell PA-4e Overheating AC Adapter...XPS 17

Hello,

I have a dell XPS 17 and anytime I have my AC adapter plugged into the laptop it gets REALLY hot. Enogh that I can't touch it and I am actually concerned of it starting a fire if I leave it on the wrong surface too long.

Anyone know about this? The model number says PA-4E. I have an XPS 17, bought it new in 2013. Thanks!
