Dell Precision M6500 Bluetooth Card (WPAN)

I have a Precision M6500 and have been looking for a bluetooth (WPAN) card. I've looked on eBay and have searched the web but cannot find one, does anyone know where one can be purchased.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply but I've seen those on eBay, the one I'm looking for can be seen on the Dell manual for the Precision M6500 under "removing the WPAN card".

Well, my D-Link DIR-865L AC router really doesn't produce anything above 300-400MB/s link speeds from about 25 feet away. I have not investigated it in depth, but my 6300 @ 300MB/s appears just as snappy for web and small home server use. The AC 7260 does have an occasional 2.4GHz issue waking up after system hibernation, which has been reported by many - but this is most likely just an early driver bug that will be fixed. 5GHz is fine 100% of the time. If you can find the card for under $40, it is worth it. I suspect it will live up to its potential once the AC hardware from the various OEM's evolve with improved driver support.

You are looking for the Dell wireless 365 BT module - part # RM948. There are a lot on eBay.

That module is the Dell Wireless 420 WPAN UWB PCI-express Mini-Card Module - Part # C205N

Will the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11ac/a/b/g/n 2x2 Half Mini Card work in a Precision M6500?

Yes, with the latest Win7 drivers direct from Intel. I have yet to see any actual speed improvement over the solid 6300 card however.

I have an ASUS RT-AC68U router so I was wondering if I would get a faster connection with the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11ac/a/b/g/n 2x2 Half Mini Card.

Do you know where the Dell Bluetooth 365 adapter is located in M6500?  I installed a new AC 7260 in order to make the bluetooth work under Windows 10.  Everything works fine including the bluetooth under the AC 7260.  However I could not find any instructions under the Dell service manual to remove the old bluetooth 365 nor do I find anything on internet regarding how to remove/replace it under M6500.  Appreciate the help!

It is the additional small Mini PCI-E slot labeled WPAN/UWB/FCM.

NOTE: WPAN is a generic name for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) and Bluetooth® (BT). Insert a WPAN card only into the slot

This is covered on page 84 of the service manual.

Scott, thanks for the reply!  However the page 84 is what is confusing me because that that slot is empty in my M6500.  I don't have a WPAN card.  Based on the picture of the Dell 365 bluetooth module, it does not seem to fit WPAN card slot.  There is demo of how to remove it in M6600 on Parts People.com but it is not the same configuration as M6500.  There must be another place where Dell put that 365 card.

OK, to confirm, your system still shows the Dell 365 installed? If so, that is odd as your system board should not have the header that accepts the little dongle cable that BT stick utilizes. To clarify, my specialty is the M6600 and I know that design inside/out, but the M6500 was before my entrance in to the Precision world. Try removing the keyboard and take a look if you cannot see the BT stick and/or cable on the bottom side of the system. Its interface is USB signal based so the dongle cable will plug in to the USB daughter board if not the main system board. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I do not have access to a M6500 or one photographed disassembled.

Thanks for the follow-up.  Right now, everything works fine with my new Intel dual band 7260 half mini card even though I also have the Dell 365 bluetooth card installed.  The 7260 can achieve a download speed of up to 750MB on the M6500 board.  So, I think for now I would just turn off the 365 card and leave it as is until one day when and if I decide to tear down the entire M6500 to find out where the 365 card is installed.
