i would like to Kindly ask if any one faced the same issue as i have recently bought a Dell Precision M6500 Laptop i7-X 920
my issue is when i have the 4 memory slots installed the machine starts acting wired, blue screen shows up with almost any thing.
but if i use only 2 slots it goes without erros, i thought it might be the ram or the motherboard but i would like to ask for your expertise with such a problem,
second question can the machine take 2x16GB ram to reach the 32GB or not?
i7-920XM Specs: ark.intel.com/Product.aspx
Max Memory Size
(dependent on memory type) 8 GB
Memory Types DDR3-1066/1333
# of Memory Channels 2
Max Memory Bandwidth 21 GB/s
Physical Address Extensions 36-bit
You might be adding more RAM than the CPU permits for
The M6500 supports up to 32GB, but only under certain conditions:
(memory requirements are listed under Technical Specifications)
What kind of DIMMs do you have fitted?
iam using ddr3 1333MHZ tried 1.5 v & 1.35 v the original dell ones are 2x4gb hynix i tried to put extra 2 hynix witht he same speed but it gets lots of blue screens
there is machines i have seen online with the 4x4gb and working well.
not sure what the problem might be the manual says quad core can take 4 slots of ram
Hi Alasdair it is written that "Intel Core i7-920XM Quad-Core
processor supports memory frequency up
to 1600 MHz" i tried to install 4 x 4gb two the original dell 2 x4 and two hynix 2 x4 all ddr3 1333 10600s but it gave me a blue screen in windows
Looking at the details for M6500 DIMMs in our spare parts database, all of them (apart from 1GB capacity) are Dual Rank, Unbuffered, 1.8V, non-ECC. Any additional memory you add will need to match this.
Hi thanks for the reply not sure about the 1.8 v az the original module is not 1.8v and could not find the written any where can you please clarify
That seems strange. What do you see for the CPU and memory in the BIOS/setup under System Information? Can you verify the serial numbers of the original DIMMs? (should be similar to HMT351S6AFR8C-H9)
