Dell QuickSet Drivers for W7 64-Bit

On a Vostro 1700 laptop, I've just replaced Vista 32-Bit with Windows 7 64-Bit. The problem has been finding compatible drivers.

Please could you let me know which is the recommended QuickSet driver version for W7 64-Bit?

And linked to the Quickset software is it possible to download the Dell MediaDirect software and link this to the home button on the laptop, as this was lost in change of OS?

Thanks a lot
Ian

Hi Ian,

You can download and install the Dell quickset driver from the link below.

Dell media direct software is installed in a separate partition on the hard drive. MediaDirect Must be Reinstalled Prior to Installing Microsoft Windows. You can refer to the link below for the instructions.

Please let me know if this helps.

See Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows 7:

http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/

This will instruct you on clean installation of Windows 7 64 Bit including Media Direct.

For Drivers use the following:

Thanks a lot for the responses guys, very helpful./ I just wish I'd asked you prior to already installing W7 and spending all day faffing about with updates and drivers. Doh!

Quick question for you both. Is it possible to add an SSD in the Vostro 1700 replacing the existing. Will one fit physically inside?

Thanks

Yes see Crucial: http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Dell-memory/Vostro+Notebooks/Vostro+1700-upgrades.html

Your system performance will be far superior with a SSD.

RE: Dell QuickSet Drivers for W7 64-Bit

Instead of starting in the complete MediaDirect > Windows install process again, can I create a new partition and then boot to this from the MediaDirect CD? If so what size partition would I need for MediaDirect?

Thanks

While it may not be impossible, it is extremely difficult.

It will be far easier/faster to setup Media Direct partitions and then reload Windows.

Dell Media Direct 4.7 is supposed to be able to be installed after windows on the same partition as the OS is.
