Dell Studio 1555 white screen
I was working on a laptop replacing a faulty fan unit after putting back together, the laptop runs and has video output through the vga and hdmi but will only show a white screen on the laptop screen itself. I've seen people say that the cables between the screen and the motherboard are at fault and I've also heard the whole screen may be bad. Anybody have experience with this problem?

I ran into the same issue a couple of months ago and found out that the monitor and the cable are perfectly fine. The problem seems to be with the display chip you have on your motherboard.
I am not sure if the chip alone can be replaced.
