Dell Studio 1558 equivalent laptop

Jump to solution

I'm currently having Dell Studio 1558 and I'm facing issues with the motherboard, so planning to replace it.
I'm looking for suggestions on any Dell models (preferably in India) that is equivalent (or higher) to my current configuration:

Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5000 graphics card (512 MB), backlit keyboard, DVD writer, 5.1 channel audio (2x audio output and 1x mic in), stereo speakers with subwoofer, WWAN support and 9 cell battery.

Rest of the configuration like HDD, webcam, display and networking are, I believe, are standard in all the models, so I didn't mention that.

The Studio range was discontinued I believe.

Its now the Inspiron or XPS range in the Home sector or the Latitude in the Work sector. The Vostro range in the Work sector was also discontinued. There are also the most expensive Dell ranges the Precision and Alienware.

The Work sector laptops usually come with a higher price tag but usually have far more support in the way of drivers and are usually built to a higher standard.

The Inspiron 15 might suit your purposes, hares one with the discrete graphics and i7, i5 respectively:

Also the Inspiron 15R with and without touch:

And Inspiron 15 7000:

There is the Latitude E6540 but it seems to have no link to customise and buy:

Also watch out as the Latitude E6440 is not sold with Windows 7 when selected even though it states Windows 7, it in fact ships with Ubuntu:

Thanks Philip.

I'm looking for laptops that has subwoofer speakers, at least 3x audio ports and an optical drive, apart from Core i7 processor. These features are amazing in Dell Studio 1558. And much better in Dell XPS L502x, one of friends has. But nowadays, I don't find such a configuration in new models, especially Inspiron series. Not sure if I'm right or wrong.
