Dell Vostro 1520 cover

What  weight (approx.) can safely withstand a laptop cover, when put a heavy items on the top of cover? (like heavy books or pair of another laptops) The cover looks sturdy enough (Dell vostro 1520).

Hi Binaryx,

When you mean the laptop cover, do you mean the LCD backcover? If yes, then it is strongly advisable NOT to place anything heavy on the LCD backcovers. Although they might be sturdy enough to support the weight of the books or another laptop, due to excess pressure at any point, it might cause the backcover to come loose or perhaps crack the LCD itself. You would then have to incur the the cost to get it fixed.

I understand. But what weight is considered "heavy" for LCD backcover? Is it safe briefly put on the Lcd backcover the weight of 3-3,5 kg? The laptop was inside soft protective carring case.

Hi Binaryx,

As advised in my previous post, it is NOT suggested to place anything on the LCD backcover. We have not had a need to test the tolerance of the LCD backcover, as it is not meant to serve as a space to keep things on.

So, to address your query, we cannot advise in means of tolerance /safety, that the LCD backcover would support a weight of 3/3.5 kg.
