Dell XPS 12 - Blue Ray Player doesnt work

Jump to solution

Hi

Thanks for your help!

I purchased a DELL XPS 12 - 5 months ago, the XPS 12 is compatable with playing Blue Ray.  I brought external Blue Ray Player hardware, and Nero Platnium 12 Blue Ray playing software to run the hardware. I tried to run the Blue Ray player and it says "The connection to your display does not meet the system requirements for Blue-ray.  Please check your system for HDCP compatability or use the analog output.  (Error-Code (1:0x13, 2:0x80400034)).

Could you please assist me to get the Blue Ray Player to work.

Josh

Hi josh_melbourne,

May I know how did you connect the Blu-ray drive to the computer?

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a security feature developed by Intel Corporation that requires the use of HDCP-certified products in order to receive a HDCP-encrypted digital signal.

It works by encrypting a digital signal with a key that requires authentication from the transmitting and receiving product. If authentication fails then the signal fails.

The problem is that if HDCP exists anywhere in the video stream then all devices and cables accessing this content must be HDCP compliant. If one device or cable isn't HDCP compliant then you get a HDCP error.

The only solution is to either replace the HDMI cable with a non-digital cable or replace the HDCP-less device.

Awaiting your response!

Thanks & Regards

Hi Rejesh

Thanks for your assistance!

I connected the imation Blue Ray player, with the cable that came in the imation box (it is a new device that I purchased around 5 months ago, a month after I purchased the laptop).   It is a USB cable, and coming out the back of the USB plug that plugs into the computer, is a second USB plug (so there are 2 USB plugs on the 1 cable - they must be for 2 different formats).   I tried plugging the second USB plug into the computer but the software does not recognise the disk, so it is only compatable with the main USB plug.

When I put the main USB plug in the Blue Ray software recognises it, plays the title of the movie, and a screen saying “Concorde Home Entertainment”, it goes to play the movie and falls over with this error screen.

Is there anyway to turn this off, as I have licensed Blue Ray Software through Nero, I licensed movie disk and authentic hardware, so I am not sure what they are trying to prevent.

Hi Rajesh

Thanks for your ongoing interest!

I ran the test yesterday, it failed for the following reasons. Just to let you know it says I dont have blu-ray software, this is incorrect I purchased Nero Platinum 12 last week, the test just cant detect it.   It also says I dont have a HDCP-compliant Display and my Graphics Card Driver fails.  The table is bellow.

Hi again Rajesh

Just to let you know I ran a FULL Dell diagnostic scan from the Dell web site and there were no issues.  I have looked at the drivers and I am downloading some driver updates, I have attached an image.

Hi Rejesh

I thought I would give you an update on the outcome of the 2 video drivers, I downloaded both of them and installed, but they give the same error, it did however take a few seconds longer for the same error to come up.

Hi Josh,

Actually, you would need to have both cables plugged in, since one is for extra power for the drive and one is for transmitting data.

Also, let me know the model number for the blu-ray drive.

Awaiting your response!

Thanks & Regards

Hi Rajesh

Thanks again for your help!

I have tried with both USB's plugged in, but it still dosent play.  I plays a few seconds of video then falls over, literally less than 10 seconds each time.   My Imation is a "Multi-Format Blu-Ray Writer .... Model No. MRX-870LE" ... Part number 66000107723.

RE: Dell XPS 12 - Blue Ray Player doesnt work

I just saw this discussion and I can not avoid to give my contribute.

I have almost the same problem: NERO BLU-RAY PLAYER (from NERO 12 PLATINUM) is quite annoying!

I get exactly the same Error Message about HDCP, but I find it curious because if I play my Blu-ray disks in this same Notebook using another software like ARCSOFT TOTALMEDIA THEATRE v6.0.1.123 TRIAL (15 days), disks play 100% well, no errors at all.

So, why NERO BLU-RAY PLAYER is asking for something which ARCSOFT does not ask for?

I would thank you a lot for your advice.

Rgards,

Jose
