Dell XPS 12

I purchase the xps12 at the end of August and only had the computer for a couple of weeks when the screen went black and I can only see the white curser.  I cannot not get anything else to work and it is worthless.

Hi JackieMahoney,

Apologies for an unpleasant experience. Try running diagnostics on the system. Here are the steps:

  • Restart the system and immediately start tapping the 'F12' key to enter the 'Boot Menu'.
  • Use the 'Down Arrow' key to highlight the 'Diagnostics' option. Press the 'Enter' key.
  • The diagnostics will begin. Please note the exact error message/code, if any appears on the screen.
  • You may also refer to the video on the link http://dell.to/17DCL0R for more information.

Also, boot to BIOS and try making following changes and check if you are able to boot:

  • Change the SATA operation in BIOS (tap F2 on start up),from Intel Smart Response to AHCI.
  • Save changes in BIOS.
  • Reboot the system
  • Go back into Bios (F2) and change SATA operation from AHCI  to Intel Smart Response.
  • Save the changes
  • Reboot the system.
  • System should boot normally into Windows.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.
