Dell XPS 13 - Protruding/bulging trackpad

Hello,

I am writing this post in concern for my Dell XPS 13 which I bought for school nearly 3 years ago. The trackpad on the machine is gradually becoming more and more difficult to use and I am afraid it will eventually become unusable and that I will be unable to use my laptop at school / in class for note taking or assignments.

I have searched around online and it seems that the issue stems from a swollen battery. I do not have a warranty, and would appreciate some advice on what my options to get my problem sorted out.

Best regards,

Imran

Get the battery out of the system - and out of your home or office, NOW.  It is a safety hazard.

Dell is replacing at least some of these even out of warranty, but if the system is three years old, they may not be willing to do that -- at that age, the battery may simply be at the end of its lifespan.

You'll need to call Dell to find out what they say.  If they won't cover the battery, you can purchase one from Dell or a Dell parts reseller such as parts-people.com
