Dell XPS 13 - Random reboot / windows crash

so i got my brand new Dell XP 13 on Tuesday.

yesterday it randomly rebooted 4 times, today it has done it once so far.

what happens is that i'm using the laptop, browsing web, watching online videos and the laptop will just power off and then back on again, i'll get the "windows didn't load correctly" message.

i choose "restart PC" and it'll be fine until it does it again.
windows 10 is fully updated.
i'm running it on native resolution 3200x1800 with 175% scaling.

edit - it actually just did it for second time today whilst typing this post.

it's a Dell XPS 13 9360 QHD+ touch.

do i have a faulty unit? or is there something else going on here?

2.4.2 appeared to fix the problem.

2.5.0 has since been released.

I don't think it is. But if you are fune with ending up with a lemon, that is not my $$$$

windows update installed whatever it needed to update and whatever order it chose to install them.

as an update, the issue only occurs when on battery power, and only occurs when the battery is below ~60%.

There have been a lot of complaints about the latest BIOS version 2.3.1 causing the restarting problem.

Dell XPS 13 9360 - random reboots - General Hardware ...

I suggest you select older versions under Dell 9360 System BIOS and install version 2.2.1. Sept 6 2017.

Downgrading the BIOS version usually fix the problem.

Please type msinfo32 onto the [Cortana] search box, stroll down to BIOS Version / Date and then verify the BIOS version on the system. If BIOS - version: 2.3.1 ,2.3.1 is on the system then I suspect that what causing the problem.

that's the current version available from the dell website.

might give that older BIOS a go.
mine shipped with 2.3.1.

would the BIOS be linked to power cutting out on battery when below a certain level?

readingt that other thread, it seems the same issue.
ie only happens on battery power, and only seems to happen once the battery is below a certain level.
lots of driver version checks, but not sure if it was definitely down to BIOS version and downgrading resolved? i assuem downgrading may introduce previously fixed bugs though?

no, i didn't mean that.

i meant, could the BIOS be the source of the problem?
