dejvv,
It appears maybe you can't run 64 bit as the advisor only mentions 32 bit upgrade. You said at the beginning that your cpu said you could not run 64 bit. I think the advisor is saying that 32 is all you can get based on the cpu not being 64 compatible. The attachment is from a Q & A on the advisor to try if you can.
To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a 64-bit-capable processor. If you are unsure whether your processor is 64-bit-capable, do the following:
Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools.
Click View and print detailed performance and system information.
See if this works or gives you an answer.
Can my computer run a 64-bit version of Windows?

dejvv,
You might, if you already haven't and still can, run the Microsoft Win 7 Upgrade Advisor to see what all the problems may or may not be. This will tell you all about your hardware and software and what will and will not work. I upgraded my M2010 to win 7x64 with no changes in hardware except I added a bigger HDD. Drivers was the main issue but got thru it.
You don't say what OS you have now but am guessing XP. If it is, a clean install of Win 7 is in order.

Hope this helps and good luck.

If you are on 32 bit now when you run the report, it will tell you compatibility for 32 bit and 64 bit. I can't duplicate it as I'm already on 64 bit. I was on Vista 32 when I ran it and got both. If you still have Win 7pro 32 on your system, it should have told you what upgrade options you have including 64 bit.

dejvv,
Sorry to here that. I can only say I think you will enjoy Win 7 32 bit if you stay with it. Win 7 is the best to come from MS in many years.
Nice working with you and good luck.
