Dell XPS13 9360 Synaptics VFS7552 Touch Fingerprint Sensor issue

Hi everyone,

Windows 10 updated itself to the Creators Update this week and I notice that my Fingerprint Senor will not work after sleep mode.

When I check the Device Manager it disappeared from device manager and if I choose the show hidden device it says the Synaptics VFS7552 Touch Fingerprint Sensor is disconnected.

I have updated the latest driver from Dell webpage and problem is persists. The only way to "fix" it is to reboot the Laptop and the Fingerprint Sensor will work but when it goes to sleep it will disconnect itself again.

Do anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Regards,

Derek Tang

I have exactly the same problem. Worked fine prior to the Creators Update

I have rolled back to the 1607 build and everything works now. I think we will need to wait for the driver or possible firmware update before we can update to Windows 10 Creators Update.

I'm confused myself. After the Creators update, the driver version was 5.1.3210 (I think).

Going to the Dell website, it claims the current driver is:

Security_Driver_7MW70_WN32_5.1.3214.26_A02.EXE (dated 13 Mar 2017)

The PREVIOUS driver though is:

Security_Driver_PND75_WN32_5.1.3217.26_A03.EXE (dated 10 Mar 2017)

Even better, if you ask the Creators Update to update the driver from Windows Update, it installs 5.1.3217.26. I'm testing this version now...

Someone needs give us a straight answer!

5.1.3217.26 doesn't fix the issue :(

Try roll it back to 1607, that should fix the problem.

At least this proves that there's no hardware fault. :)

I already had tested that, yes it's not hardware. I'll stay on 1703, it's only a reboot fix away...

What do you mean? I had to use an external back up copy of my HDD and still have to repair install the Dell Security Tools.

This was the only way I could fix it.

I've had continuous problems with this FIPS device.

Even on Windows 7 it was buggy. Wouldn't load after sleep or hibernation.

In contact since 1 year with 3rd level Dell engineers and 2nd level Microsoft.

We are no longer consumers we are all members of a Beta Test, unfortunately.

I have the same problem.  Thanks for letting me know or I would have spent hours working on this.  Please post here (Dell or somebody) when this is fixed.

I'm seeing this reported on other vendor forums as well.  I suppose they might all use the same fingerprint reader, but another possibility is that this is a bug introduced in Windows itself that Microsoft will need to fix, and given how soon the Fall Creators Update is being released, they might just be waiting to release it with that update.

My Dell XPS 13's fingerprint reader has stopped working since the most recent Windows 10 update. This PC is only one month old. Help!

The version seems to have fixed the fingerprint reader not working after sleep problem. However, prior to the creators update the fingerprint reader was able to turn on the screen (not in sleep mode), this still doesn't work.

Thanks for the pointer to the new driver.... I tried to install it but the installer can't the fingerprint scanner.... Device Manager says it's not connected.... How do I re-connect it, so I can install the new driver?
