Dell inspiron 1150 charging but no indicator lights and not turning on
Hi, i have questions regarding to the power of my Dell inspiron 1150 .
last year i have problem about the power jacks and the adaptor the jack and the adaptor is broken and the technician i contact said that the only way to fix that is to solder directly the charger to the mobo. after how many months i expiriences another problem, when I'm using the laptop it turns off imediately (blackout) when I press the power button it turn on but after 30 mins. it shutdown improperly (blackout) so i decided to open it tommorow but when open it theres no power even tne cpu fan didnt on and no indicator lights turn on
i test the soldered part of the mobo, but theres no problem about that and even the charger, indicator lights, battery.
i try to charge the battery because its 30% charged, it reach the full charged status when i pull back and put in the other laptop.
and when i pull the chager out of the outlet , its indicator lights didnt turn off even 24 hours past . when i pull the battery the indicator lights turn off
my questions were:
Is the mobo have a problem ?
Is the northbridge destroyed?
Does the battery and the charger has problem?
Is there a surface mounted fuse in the motherboard?
the laptop was bought Oct 2004...

Hi aobm,
Please check if the system is overheating before the shutdown. In case the system is overheating, clean the air vents with a can of compressed air and make sure the system is placed a hard surface where there is good ventilation.
In case the system is not overheating and if it is abruptly shutting down, I suspect the motherboard is faulty and consider replacing it.

Okay, thanks for the suggestion...
the system is not over heating , in fact its temperature is 37-47 degree celcuis
what do you think is the problem of the motherboard?
Does the components of the laptop needed to replace also?

Hi aobm,
The Controller chip and charging port would have gone bad which alone cannot be replaced. Hence the whole motherboard has to be replaced.

Hi aobm,
I am not sure of the exact location. Please take the system to a local technician and get it checked.
