Dell inspiron N5110 15R Memory Upgrade

Hi,

I have a dell inspiron N5110 and i am planning on upgrading the ram modules which are rated at 1333hz. i would like to know if the motherboard can support ram modules at higher frequencies, if yes, how much of a performance boost can i expect.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Faster modules may work but won't increase the speed - 1333 MHz is the limit for memory speed in this model.

The main SATA controller for the hard drive supports 6G SATA - the optical drive is 3G.

On this model, replacing the hard drive is not a 10-minute job -- the mainboard has to come out of the system.

Is this samsung ssd compatible with Inspiron N5110?

Please recommend any other compatible ssd if someone has already upgraded successfully.

Thanks

Any standard 2.5" drive will work -- that said, be sure you know what you're in for before you begin changing a drive in this model.  It requires essentially a complete system tear-down.

have a Dell N5110  INTEL with INTEL Graphics, i got new in 2013, installed A11 bios, was an i3, then installed an i5 , later installed an i7 they all work, moved up to windows 10 with 8GB of RAM from the 4 it cam with, lately i read that somebody installed Kingston HyperX memory 16GB and it worked, needed 8 GB of memory anyway for something else and i got Crucial CT102464BF160B, tried it in my Dell N5110 first, It Works. the Dell N5110 will do 16GB, tested, done it, you could probably use two 8GB Kingston HyperX also, but i know the Crucial works for sure, with mine the way it is anyway, could even be the same with a windows 10 i3, could try that but but i am not going to because i would have to take the whole computer apart, maybe some time if i get a chance, if you have an i3 or i5 you can try it and see if it works, i would say with windows 10 and A11 bios it probably would

I guess only HDD and RAM are upgradeable

you can upgrade the motherboard to a 0J2ww8, it has the regular intel graphics and 1GB Nvidia GT525m GPU, they are going cheap these days, for a new one they are going for as little as $56, also have to get the compatible heat sink that goes with it to cover the extra Nvidia GPU and it is another $18-$25
