My dell laptop Inspiron 15 N5010 is having 8 beeps and upon pressing the D key with the power button, its starts up but a blank screen with a cursor shows up after displayig the dell logo. Help!

8 beeps indicate either LCD failure or video card failure. 

Please try on an external monitor and let us know the outcome. 

Also you can try running LCD test, steps below :

Shut down the system

Hold the letter D and power up the machine

Let go the D after 5 seconds

Observe for any display.

Await your response.
