Dell mini 1010v (1011) with Windows 10....
Just upgraded a Dell Mini 1010v (Inspiron 1011) to Windows 10!
From XP!
Running about 5% CPU, with a lot of things shut down, OneDrive, Desktop one color, all data collection off, and a 60 Gb SSD as a hard drive.
Went by Goodwill, picked up a broken Windows 7 laptop, a Dell 2120 to use the Windows 7 key on the back. $9.99...
Stripped, but I found the wireless card was still inside. Popped out my 1397, in goes the 1520...
Drivers are an issue. Use the Windows 7 64 bit drivers, do not install, just extract, then have Windows manually update the drivers, pointing it to /dell subfolder. May take a while....
Wireless speed goes from 54 to 300...
Download the Windows 10 iso, 32 bit, all languages, from Microsoft.
Burn to a USB stick, making it bootable, (use the create bootable DVD/USB tool), then, if doing a clean install, boot from it.
Upgrade, just click on "setup.exe", I believe. (Not sure, went the "clean install" route)
The following 1011 Windows 7 32 bit drivers I installed, because I did a clean install, Function Key, Display, Caps Lock, Wireless Switch, and 1520 Wireless card drivers from the 64 bit side...,
Up, activated, and running pretty good...
(Considering its a $199 Black Friday Special from 5-6 years ago....)
