Dell's ripping people off

I ordered Inspiron E1505 Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2300 (2MB Cache/1.66GHz/667MHz FSB)
KD16HN
[222-1326] From Dell, yet I received:

1 NJ745 PROCESSOR, 80539, YONAH, T2300E, 1.66, 2M

Check your systems, Dell might be sending out more systems with the incorrect parts installed.

Difference?

What's the difference?  Just Vanderpool?  Dell has had occassional typos like this before, most recently that I can remember on FSB speeds.  As the 'E' is newer, I'd say they just forgot to update their order page.

Re: Dell's ripping people off

the difference is that the T2300E does not have virtualization support. Now as to what THAT means, I don't know. Not a big difference, I can say that. http://www.intel.com/products/processor/coreduo/index.htm

Re: Dell's ripping people off

I believe Virtualization Technology will allow one to run more than one OS simultaneously whereas the T2300E lacks VT and is only able to run one OS of a dual boot machine at a time.  Some literature indicates the 2300 has 1MB cache per core whereas the T2300E has a single 2MB cache that is shared between the cores similar to the upcoming Core 2 Duo architecture.

Re: Dell's ripping people off

either way for a normal user there is basically no difference in the T2300 and T2300E. I would not say that they are ripping people off.

still ... people do tend to get upset over little things like this.  would be nice if dell did update their specs I suppose -- it probably does matter to a few select users.

Re: Dell's ripping people off

You're apparently ignorant in my opinion.

In this case, simply contact Dell and tell them what your findings are.

I'm sure they'd be happy to replace your laptop / processor with the proper hardware.

Don't say they're ripping people off, if you're intelligent enough to actually know what the difference is then contact them and I'm sure they'll replace it.

Re: Dell's ripping people off

Check the shipping invoice.  Then there is your proof.  I know their shipping department can make mistakes. I ordered  a laptop las t November and got a Port Replicator and monitor stand with  it .  Can't even use it with my laptop.. A $200  value  waste  until I can sell or trade it .  It was fun trying to figure out how to use it before I realized it wasn't even on the shippping invoice.  Sure I called them on it, Their (HA HA )  Customer service but I still got it and I'm keeping it because Dell sold me a refurbished computer as new. But that's another subject.
