Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered - Inspiron 7359 2-in-1

This happens several times a day, please see the error message in the screen shot -"Display driver ha stopped working and as recovered"

The weird thing is that it mentions Windows 8 when I have Windows 10 running on the machine. I have also removed the display driver and installed one from the support dell web site. Also updated BIOS from the same place.

Had the same problem with a XPS 15 9530, to the point it was driving me crazy. I can confirm that for a couple of days it's been fixed by installing the Intel beta driver. You have to uninstall the Dell driver from the Device Manager, restart, and then install the beta driver.

i was just checking the driver on the Intel website and the release notes mention this exact problem

"During web browsing and other graphics hardware accelerated application usage, fixed issues that resulted in the message ‘Display driver stopped responding and has recovered’ on 6th Generation Intel® Core processors"

Link to the driver:

Hi,
I will give it a go tonight. Thank you for your reply.

Exactly. But is very important to properly uninstall the Dell driver. Failure to do so and installing this Intel beta driver will translate into the Dell driver reinstalling trough Windows Update.

Thanks for the link Piotrka.    Ulises, I have a Dell 5559  Which driver to I use for my 64bit system? There are two listed.  Thanks so much.  I have been on the phone with Dell support for hours trying to fix this, all to no end.  I am in hopes that this will fix.

both links point to the same driver, only packaged differently - *.exe yo can run as it is, *.zip you need to uncompress first. Go with the *.exe  - win64_154012.exe

Fishlips34: Both files are the same driver. It's easier to use the exe file. As for the question about how to properly remove the native driver before installing the beta, the way I did it was going to the Device Manager, look for the driver for HD Graphics 4600 listed on "Display drivers", uninstall it, restart, and then install the beta driver downloaded. So far this has fixed the problem for me.

I'm having the same problem with a newly purchased (certified refurbished) Inspiron 5759 that has both the internal Intel 520 as well as the AMD Radeon R5 M335 graphics. As of today, the Intel website is pointing to a newer version of the download (Beta 15.40.20.4404). When I do the Driver update through Device Manager, I've been getting 20.19.15.4300 as the current version. Does the problem resolution still require loading the Beta, and if so, any last minute tips/tricks to remember to make sure the switch goes safely? Also, how long before (if ever) Intel mainstreams the Beta version?

Hi, I'm having the same issue as the original post. I've attempted to install the beta driver but each time I receive the message that the "driver is not validated for this computer" which happens to be an Inspiron 5559 i5. I've uninstalled the Intel HD Graphics 520 driver each time before attempting to install the beta version but with same result each time. Should I check the "delete driver software" box also when uninstalling the Graphics 520 driver?

Once you download the beta drivers and uninstall the Dell driver. Right click on the file folder for the beta and select run as Administrator. Because Microsoft has not signed this driver it has trouble verifying it as valid. Windows 10 tries to prevent you from installing unsigned drivers in a effort to prevent bad drivers. Of course this also can affect beta drivers as well. Unfortunately, this is the only real solution until the drivers come out of beta and are tested and approved by Microsoft.
