Does Inspiron 1564 have a firewire port?
Pretty simple question, but I can't seem to find the answer online. Anybody know if the Inspiron 1564 has a firewire port or a PCMCIA slot?
Thanks!

No, to both. PCMCIA slots are obsolete these days except for a very few business-class notebooks. They disappeared from consumer notebooks a few years ago. Firewire is another rapidly disappearing technology.

Thanks. Would any other options be available to me? Some other type of firewire expansion card?

Express Card firewire will work (such as):

Thanks. A little pricey, but cheaper than replacing my firewire audio interface with a USB one (that would run me around $200).

No, it actually does not. Like Apple, Dell removed the Express Card socket from the consumer-level Inspirons.

Is there some other way to connect my Canon DV camcorder to this laptop? It has only IEEE1394 interface.
Thanks.
