Hi,
some people are reporting, that they can receive a GPS-signal with their Dell 5520 mobile broadband card.
Actually a GPS-Button was shown in a former software version of the Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility.
In the specifications for the 5520 (Dell) and EU870D (Novatel) is no precise answer to this question.
Does anyone definitely know if there is GPS support by the 5520 card? If yes, why GPS isn´t supported by the newest Dell software for the 5520 card?
BTW: Anyone got the firmware upgrade files for supporting HSDPA up to 7,2 Mb/s yet?
Go to registry editor (regedit) and search the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novatel Wireless\NextGenCommon\GPSHWStatus. Then set the value from 0 to 1 and apply.
After a restart of the Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility there should be shown a new GPS button.
Thanks a lot for this instruction to Petepete
Here is the link for firmware update from manufacturer (it will be available for 30 days without downloads): www.sendspace.com/.../r71i8j
I've received it a several years ago from one of the Novatel's dealers where I've purchased my EU870D.
File name: 20417934_MUU_EU870D_103_7_EMEA_open_sim_v1a.exe
File size: 8977068 bytes.
It's an original file from manufacturer without any modifications. It's for original Novatel Wireless Expedite EU870D and I don't know if it compatible with Dell 5520.
