E7440 upgrade from non-touch to touch screen

Hello Everybody,

I have a Latitude E7440 non touch screen version that needs a complete new display assembly due damage. I was wondering if it is possible to fit a complete touch screen assembly as a replacement? I noticed that the back shell of the touch assembly is slightly different and I guess the whole structure is heavier than the non-touch version.

Many thanks,

Viktor

Make sure that includes the back cover -- but that should do it.

It is possible - but everything north of the base/keyboard needs to be replaced -- upper structure, bezel, screen, cables, antenna wires and hinges.

Dear ejn63,

many thanks for the kind reply. Upper structure means the touch pad? I am looking to retain everything "below" the hinges and install a complete touch assembly. instead the damaged bezel, back cover and LCD.

Thanks again!

Thanks again. I'm looking to get a structure like this. Do you think it would be enough? img2.parts-people.com/.../E7440TSa.JPG

Everything from the hinges up needs to be replaced - the lower chassis is the same on both versions.
