E7470 Fingerprint Reader Burning Hot

I just got a new E7470 laptop and the fingerprint reader is burning hot. Support wants to replace the part. But I feel this is a software issue. Anyone have a similar issue ?

Hi, I have the same issue with my e7470. Did you found a solution?
I just downloeded the driver updates, released this week:

Hi Daniel,

Did the driver update resolve the issue?

Please update the BIOS and then the ControlVault firmware which was recently released and then shutdown the system and let it cool off completely, then resume using the system and check for the functionality.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

None of the updates worked out and the fingerprint sensor malfunctions and heats up most of the times.
