E7470 LCD upgrade Please advise

Hi Team ,

Thank you for the support !

I have a small question , i am a owner of a e7470 with service tag , awesome latop but there was a small disappointment after buying the laptop was advertised to have a 1920x screen but it have onboard ' 391-BCFM : 35.6cm (14.0") HD (1366x768) N on-Touch Anti-Glare LCD with C amera/Mic'

Can i upgrade to a WUXGA (1920x1080) Full HDpanel or even  a QHD (2560x1440) ? I am worry about the pin and cabling layout

Please advise

Thanks in advance

WIth a few considerations, yes.

1. If the system is under warranty, you'll lose that if you upgrade the screen.

2.  You'll need to replace the screen and the wiring harness that connects it to the mainboard.

3.  It's better to buy from a source that knows Dell systems - so you get a compatible screen.  Try parts-people.com (or Dell Spare Parts).

Hi ejn63

Thank you for your reply, it looks like the WUXGA (1920x1080) use the same cabling as the  1366x768 The (2560x1440) use 40 pins instead of 30

It looks like you may be correct -- however, the number of pins isn't everything.  With some systems, high resolution screens - though they may use the same connector - use double the number of conductors in the cable.

It looks like QHD means touch - which in turn would mean replacing not just screen, but the entire top half of the system (and note that the added work of pumping that much video data through the system, coupled with the screen power requirements will significantly cut battery runtime -- if that's an issue).
