Event 13 ACPI Error, Vista 32bit Dell Studio 1737...
Hello,
I recently did a clean install, restored factory image that is, in my Dell Studio 1737 with Vista Home Premium 32bit which i own for about a year and a half now. I did that, following a couple of Blue Screens in the previous months that gave me quite a bit of trouble.
Since the clean install however, which made me eager to monitor my system as close as i can for forthcoming problems, i see in the Event Viewer some standard Error messages.
First there is the following error:
Event 13, ACPI
: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware of firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.
I get this error periodically, 4 times an hour, every single hour the computer is running. I want to know what it is and how to fix it. I have the Dell 1737 A08 BIOS update installed and Dell does not provide any further update to the BIOS. I have installed all the Windows Updates. And since this error comes after a clean restoration of the factory image, i can not understand what exactly is the problem. I read somewhere that it has to do with the power settings or something? In my case i am using the laptop 99% of the time as a desktop replacement, plugged in, with 100% full battery, in the 'High Performance' option.
Then there is the error
Event 10, WMI
Evemt filter with query "SELECT * FROM_InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstace.LoadPercentage >99" could not reactivated in namespace "//,/root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
Which according to the Event Viewer occurs about once every hour, this too on a steady basis.
I need your help with understanding and fixing the above errors. I m NOT looking forward to more blue screens any time soon, i want to have a steady system for my work and leisure time.

I also have been receiving the same ACPI Event 13 errors in the Event Viewer. I finally isolated the cause of these errors by removing the battery from my laptop. When the battery is not attached, the errors are not occurring on my system. Now, I need to find out how to fix the root cause of the error.

I'm at the same BIOS version and still experiencing the ACPI event 13 error. My system is Vista 64-bit.
