Failed HDMI port
Hi there,
I have a Dell Inspiron 7720 laptop that has been great for a few years now. I always use the HDMI port but recently it has stopped working. If i move the cable around in the port it comes on for a brief second but then goes off. I have tested the cable on a different computer and it works fine but also tried a different cable just to be sure.
Seems to me that the HDMI port must have failed or be failing, what would you recommend me doing considering my laptop isn't in warranty anymore?

Thanks for writing to us.
We are looking at a failed/yet to fail HDMI port, so it needs a motherboard replacement as the HDMI is located on motherboard.
A motherboard will cost you around 50% of the actual system cost, Do PM us the system tag# by clicking on my name in blue and then select send a private message and country where you residing, should you wish to know the actual cost of the same.
