Fan still runs 5447

My wife is using an Inspiron 14-5447 and we have noticed a problem where the fan turns back on after shut down and stand by when the laptop is left in areas where heat is hard to dissipate.

A couple of examples are if she shuts the system down and immediately puts the laptop in her carry case, or shuts down and leaves the laptop on the couch. Once the laptop is either taken out of the case or picked up the fan will shut off within 30 seconds to a minute.

We have tried to look for the Intel Power Management feature to down grade or even disable, updating the BIOS, changing what happens when you close the lid. All with no success.

The problem seems to be a catch 22. We think the fan is turning on to try and expel the excess heat, but by the fan being on for hours, possibly even overnight the base is warm to the touch even with the laptop being off for more than 8 hours. So it looks as though the system is trying to exhaust heat it is creating for itself.

It is hard to recreate the situation, but we have found when the laptop is on a hard flat surface this does not seem to be a problem.

Thank you Hemalatha P for your response. We actually found last night that the Intel Power Management feature was still active and we decided to disable it completely. The laptop has not been giving us any trouble for over 16 hours now.

The machine is running Windows 10 and all drivers and software have been updated.

Hopefully this helps anyone else with this issue.
