Fan still works after shut down (Windows 10).

Hi,

I have installed windows 10 in my Inspiron 15 3542.
When I shutdown the computer, sometimes the fan keeps running till the battery drains out.

Then I have to keep pressing power button and power off the laptop.

Previously I had Windows 8.1 and no issues at all.

Any healpful ideas guys?

awesome!!!

hey, there is another lil trick. after installing win 10, my boot up time was around 30 seconds or so. for some reason, i reset my BIOS back to factory defaults. now it boots in 10 seconds. restarts still take longer, but its sweet to turn it on and get the desktop in 10 seconds..

glad its working for u

Dear, i had the same problem.

Until now there are two things you can do.

1) Enter Bios Settings (by pressing F2 while booting) and disable Intel Management Engine.

OR

2) Uninstall the latest driver for Intel Management Engine Interface Driver and install this (oldest) driver (Version 9.5.14.1724, A00) : http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=5D6PT&fileId=3488769613&osCode=WB64A&productCode=inspiron-17-7737&languageCode=EN&categoryId=CS

(i choose the 2nd option).

The problem was solved installing this (previous) version of Intel Management Engine Interface Driver. My laptop (Dell 7737 i7) is working perfect now!

Hope that i helped you my friend.

This is working me and many others online with this issue.

You need to install an older Driver for Intel Management Engine Interface.

Try this one First:  Intel MEI Driver v10.0.30.1054 INF for manual installation

http://www.mediafire.com/download/27u36u2oznan64u/Intel+MEI+Driver+INF+v10.0.30.1054.rar

If you still have reboot / restart / shutdown issues, try this one:   Intel MEI Driver v9.5.24.1790 INF for manual installation

http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ff7l36uz78nzl/Intel+MEI+Driver+INF+v9.5.24.1790.rar

Source of above drivers - Under Section D1:  http://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html

!!!!!!! IMPORTANT - Manual "Have Disk" Installation Required !!!!!!!

1. Go to Device Manager

2. Scroll down to System Devices and expand group

3. Double Click "Intel Management Engine Interface"

4. Driver Tab >>> Update Driver

5. Click Browse My Computer for Driver Software

6. Click Let Me Pick From a List of Device Drivers on My Computer

7. Click "Have Disk" !!!

8. Browse to Driver Folder and Select "heci.inf"

9. Click "Yes" you want to install the driver even though it might not be for your hardware.

10. Complete Installation, Click OK and Reboot.

Important Notes:  You can NOT use the self installer from Intel. It won't install on Windows 10.   Just disabling Intel Management Engine Interface in device manager does not appear to resolve the problem.

Issue Resolved:  When rebooting / restarting / shutting down Windows 10 after the computer has been on for some time, Windows appears to reboot normally, but there is no bios post or beep, monitor is black but fans run.  Issue usually happens after playing a 3D game.

Hi,

I followed the proceedure mentioned but in vain. I uninstalled the v11 and tried installing the V9 but i am getting an error saying that Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install this driver.

Please help.

Really appreciate it as i am struggling with this issue.

Thanks a ton in advance,

Here are the current Intel Management Engine drivers - look under A1. Intel MEI Driver Only.

www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html

By the way, for me the cause was my Sound Blaster Z card.  When I removed it and went back to onboard sound, the issue was resolved.

Good Luck.
