The Fn+F4 and Fn+F5 keys (to adjust brightness) is not working in my laptop. It was working perfectly fine till yesterday.
But then, I reinstalled Windows7 due to some software issues, & I'm having this problem now.
Not only this function key issues, but also, I'm unable to adjust my display resolutions.

Hi 21seenu,

I would like to know if you have installed all the drivers after reinstalling Windows 7.

For the mentioned key combinations to work, Dell Quickset has to be installed. Refer the following link for the Vostro 1550 drivers page: http://dell.to/10LAAUJ

Select the operating system as Windows 7. Download and install Dell Quickset that is listed under the category Applications.

Regarding the issue with display resolution, ensure that the graphics drivers are installed. You may refer the following link that has instructions to install drivers in correct order after reinstalling operating system: http://dell.to/Ynnsnr

Please post the results.

I installed the "Quickset" driver yesterday, but it din't solve my problem. I'm still unable to adjust my brightness using the function keys.

Regarding the display resolution, right now the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" is the Display Adapter installed in my laptop. Should I uninstall it and install some other Display Adapter?

All the problems are solved now! I uninstalled the video driver and installed one that was suggested to me. Now everything is working perfectly fine :)

Thanks a lot for your help, Paul and Kalyan S. :) You both really helped me! :)
