It is true that my laptop is slightly outdated, however, it fills in the requirements for most games. It has a quad-core i7 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT540M graphics card and 8 GB of RAM. In short, it's an excellent laptop for gaming. However, since the beginning, games that I've played are EXTREMELY prone to crashing. The only reason I stop playing is because the game crashes and my entire laptop freezes. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work, so I have to restart my laptop completely using the power button. I fail to understand why, as my laptop should, in theory, achieve the highest graphics preset for a game; instead, the game lags and crashes constantly even if it is set to the Medium graphics preset. My second problem- I recently learnt how to enable my Nvidia Graphics Card using the Device Manager tool. However, many games, when prompted at the launcher, only recognize the basic Intel HD Graphics Family, which is not as powerful as the NVidia. For example:
Even if I scroll down, the NVidia option is not available. So, I right click and say "Run with Graphics Processor - NVIDIA GT540M." Yet it continues to crash, any help will be highly appreciated
How about the drivers? Have you been updating your card with NVidia updates directly or with Dell's?Sometimes the NVidia updates don't work well. The Dell ones are way behind, but they do work. The current Dell version is A09.
