I would suggest updating the System Setup( BIOS). Please watch Dell video to safety install latest BIOS version in link below:

By the way, please list exact Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell XPS 9360 windows 10

If updating BIOS doesn't fix the display problem:

Type Troubleshoot onto [Cortana]search box, select and run windows update troubleshooter. The tool will fix any corrupt / failed windows update that could be causing the display problem.  I also suggest you run Hardware & devices troubleshooter as well.

Lastly,

Please run LCD BIST test by following the steps in Dell video below. The test should help determine if the screen or video card is faulty.

Thank you for your replies and suggestions,i will try updating the bios now. It is a 9360 Windows 10 machine.

Nothing has worked, everything indicates it is a manufacturing defect with the screen. Shame. thank you all for your help.
