Hard Disk 0 Error. Media Test failed, check cable. WINDOWS 7

Help please, i'm not sure what happened with my computer. I got  a blue screen, computer

turned off and then suddenly got "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Series v.1.24....Media Disk Error....Reboot and select proper boot device....."

I've already tried changing the boot options to different priorities and none of them work. I ran a diagnosis and it told me i had a "Hard Driver 0 Error =32"

Please i need some help. I have a Inpiron 15 Laptop. Thanks in advance

Hi Josephh_2,

Please run the diags again and reply with the complete error details - exact error code and error message.

If the system is under warranty, then please send me the service tag of the system and your contact details through a private conversation.

Or us via Twitter - @dellcares - for faster communication.

Keep us updated.

P.S. I have moved your thread to laptop section.

Hi Josephh_2,

The error code refers to a failed hard drive.

You could choose to order a new hard drive from us - contact us via twitter - @dellcares

Or if you prefer, you could order the hard drive yourself through - http://www.parts-people.com/

Download the service manual from support.dell.com - http://dell.to/1Pwntme - enter the service tag and download the manual to check on how to replace the hard drive.

You would also need to reinstall the OS on the system. If you do not have the Dell OEM discs or a retail copy of the OS - and if you need the discs - contact us via twitter.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

I have a Drivers and Utilities disk for my laptop. Is that the OS disk? Do I need to reinstall windows 7 with the new hard drive? Can I get the CDs I'm missing or that I will need?  I tried messaging @dellcares but getting no response. I already ordered a new hard drive

That is not the OS disc -- you will need to call Dell to purchase the recovery media for your system.

Hi Josephh_2,

You would usually receive a HDD in raw format. You would have to re-install the OS on the new HDD. You can contact us via Twitter - @dellcares - https://twitter.com/DellCares - follow the account and try a DM with the details and order for the OS disc. They will respond as the team works 24/7.

Let us know you if you have any other queries.
