Please help. I have just run a diagnostic on my broken Inspiron and have the following error message:

If you don't have a backup of your data, remove the hard drive, mount it in an external case (see link) and make one - NOW. You will need to attach the drive to a working system. When you order the case, you will also need a new, 2.5" 7- or 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive; your hard drive has failed.

I am having the same problem with my laptop and I bought it just one month ago.
Please tell me that Dell Can do something.
Call Dell with the exact error - they will send you a replacement drive (on most systems the drive is user-replaceable). If your system does not have a user-replaceable drive, they'll either send you a box in which to return the system to Dell for service, or arrange for onsite service if you purchased that with the system).

I am accually having the same exact problem and its say Hard Drive Failure error code 2000-0142 validation 118066. What should I do to fix this problem?

Your hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.

You can check the warranty status using the service tag number.
