High Resolution Laptop Needs

I bought an Inspiron 9300 4 or 5 years ago and I'm finally getting ready for an upgrade.  One of the great features of my 9300 is the high resolution available (1920x1200).  In looking for new laptops, I've found that getting a laptop with high resolution seems to have gotten a bit tougher.  In my examination, the lowest model offering high resolution (close to 1920x1200) is the XPS Model with 3D technology.  It seems a bit odd that in 5 year technology would have back tracked to the point that high resolution screens are harder to get.  Doing lots of development, high resolution is a must, but I couldn't care less about 3D.

Am I reading this incorrectly or is a high resolution screen now a expensive commodity.  Are 1080p screen the only screens supporting 1920x1200 resolutions?  I'm pretty sure my existing laptop isn't 1080p, but still support high resolution.

Any info in the area would be appreciated.
