Hinge repair on display

My Inspiron 6000 has something loose or broken in the right side hinge. When closing the display, the display assembly at the right side tries to separate. I can close the laptop far enough to transport it but sure does not close properly. Before I break something, can anyone give me some guidance on how to correctly disassemble the display panel to take a better look at the hinge?

Dell used to have documentation for all of the computers on the site, but this year they removed a lot of them. Here are the available Inspiron service manuals. If you select the 9400/E1705 (the oldest models left there) and look at the display instructions you will get a pretty good idea of what is involved. If you have specific questions then please post on the Laptop General Hardware board.
