Hoping this is in the right forum

I have a M17R3, and having trouble with re-installing windows 7 after a complete wipe out.

Win7 installs fine, i install the drivers suggested by dell via my service code.  Then after a day or so, i start getting BSOD after a few minutes just browsing the net.  It locks up and i have to kill the power to get it to boot back up.

Ive installed win8.1 on it and also Linux Mint and everything seems to run fine.  What is up with this ???

RE: Hoping this is in the right forum

Hi Jimv8673,

Thanks for your post. Certainly sounds like a software / driver issue as the system was running well with the other operating systems installed. Have you been able to run through the available driver updates from the support site yet? It’s possible this is being caused simply by an outdated installation. As it happens specifically when you are browsing the internet I suggest updating your network drivers and any java or flash player software on the system initially.

The Dell support site has an online diagnostics tool that can help pin down and fix Bluescreen issues: http://www.dell.com/support/Diagnostics/us/en/19

We also have a great guide that can help you go through some more extensive troubleshooting with a system having Bluescreen issues: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=543301

Thanks,

Hi,

Seems like a driver issue. Try booting into Windows 7 Safe Mode with Networking. Download and install who crashed from:

http://www.resplendence.com/download/whocrashedSetup.exe

After you run the software, click on Analyze at the top. It will scan the mini dumps and identify the problem-causing driver/software. Please post the screenshot here.
