Horizontal Screen Flickering on HD LCD Monitor

Hi there,

Hoping someone can help. I own a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559 Laptop, and recently purchased a Philips E Line 32 LCD Monitor, Full HD 1920x1080.

I started using the monitor 2 weeks ago, but in the last 2 days have begun to notice horizontal flikering of the monitor whenever scrolling on web browser, playing a game or watching a movie file.

I filmed the flickering using a 4K Camcorder so you can see the flickering occur: www.youtube.com/watch

As you can see, a horizontal flickering begins towards the bottom of the screen and begins moving up through the display.

I am unsure of why this occuring or whether it's a problem with the Laptop vs. the Monitor. Connection is through HDMI and it wasn't a cheap cable, I got a fairly decent one.

What would be the best course of action here?

P.S. I'm not tech savy so bare with me if I don't always understand terminology.

Hi SANEMAAT,

What is the current OS version installed on the system? Is the flickering seen on both the external and internal displays?

Disconnect the external monitor and check for flickering on the system LCD.

Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/2aV8Rib - restart the system and check.

Reinstall the video drivers from the support site and check if it works.

If not, reinstall the nvidia driver from vendor site - http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/111030

Run a stress test through Support Assist - http://dell.to/1NEc1Y4

Lastly, check with another monitor if the flickering persists. This will help isolate the source of the issue.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hey, I'm not really sure why but the issue seems to have stopped on it's own, so now I can't really test to see what was causing it. I'll respond here again if it starts happening again. Thanks for your response though, I will use these suggestions
