How to move Windows from HDD to SSD? URGENT!
Hi everyone!
I have just bought SSD disk of 240 gb and own 5447 model with 500gb HDD. Windows 8 was set on the laptop from the box and now its windows 10, after the update.
Iam still doubt about the way of replacing Windows to the new SSD disc. I see 2 options to move windows to new disc, but not sure which is right:
1) To clone it via Acronis or smth like that on a USB flash. Heard I cant do it with smaller size of SSD, than my HDD.
2) Or install Windows from the scratch (download image from Windows.com) maybe with a boot flash? But if this way, so what about the license? I know its embedded in BIOS, will it accept a new windows license request during the install?
Thanks in advance for your answers

Use the FREE version of Macrium Reflect. It will completely 'Clone' the HDD directly to the SSD. That is what I did with my Inspriron 13. You install Macrium on the HDD and connect the SSD via a USB adaptor cable that you can buy online. If you prefer you can use a 2.5" drive enclosure instead. You will have a bootable SSD to install that has everything on it. You might want to disable Hiberfile.sys before doing the Clone as well as "Disk Cleanup" to remove all but the most recent Restore Point. Then defragment the HDD.
WARNING: SSD's should not be defragmented as that will use some of the Write cycles unnecessarily.
You wind up with a fast drive without the work of having to install anything from scratch. Windows 10 will automatically activate and you are good to go.

Hi!
Thanks for your answer! Really appreciate ! But can you advice another way of migration, since I don't have a chance to buy USB sata Cabell today and the question is pretty urgent- I need to do it today. What about clone to flash ?? Or as I wrote, install Windows from a scratch ? Any idea ?

The only option right now would be to download the ISO file and create a USB (16gb is my choice) using Rufus. This will do a clean install for you.

Do I understand you correct, that I download the image from Microsoft site and make a Bootable flash ? My license will work for it right ?
