Inspiron 1100 Flashing Scroll lock LED. Help.

Hi. Does anyone know what a yellow flashing scroll lock LED signifies. I tried searching the Dell site and can't find anything. The scroll lock LED started flashing 4 orange/ 1 green about a week ago. No hardware changes. The computer still works. It does bog down now though. Anything more than simple word processing and the CPU will max out at 95-100%. I know flashing orange lights are never a good sign. Is there some hardware failing? Is there anything I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
