Inspiron 13 7000: USB Type-C port won't work
Hello,
My new Inspiron won't detect anything connected to the Type-C port. All other USB ports work fine. Even the Dell USB<->HDMI adapter (DA200) isn't detected.
I've updated the BIOS and chipset drivers to no avail. When I do the online USB diagnostics, the USB Port Test fails, but no other information is provided.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I too have a new inspiron 15-7000 and thought that the DA200 adapter would be great. Well, I am going to try the aukey device to see if that will work.

I second the Anker USB-C with gigabit Ethernet port and three USB 3.0 ports (CB-C36). After I installed the drivers from the Anker site, it worked beautifully.
I paid $17.99 last week, which I considered a super bargain, but I see it is down to $14.99 on Amazon. Probably the best accessory for the Inspiron 13.

I bought the Inspiron 7778 and used the dell reward card to buy the DA200.
It does not work at all, not even recognized by the laptop.
I replaced it just assuming it is a faulty adapter.
However, the new coming one does not work at all again.
And I realized there must be some issue between the laptop and the adapter.
So, I called the customer service, and they told me, which I am quoting directly "DA200 has compatibility issue with Inspiron 7778".
I don't know why they did not release this notice beforehand to the public, so it can save all of us a lot of time and money, also saving their customer service's time and energy.
I am quite frustrated with this kind of problem!

Why not try eseekgo usb type-c cable. High quality and good to use. https://www.amazon.com/ESEEKGO-Charger-Dirtproof-Braided-Charging/dp/B01IR75Y3U/ref=sr_1_1?m=A2PQ5VQHSRWEC5&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1478743984&sr=1-1&refinements=p_4%3AESeekGo

Most likely the problem is you are plugging in a USB C "Thunderbolt" device and this port is NOT a thunderbolt port. It is simply USB C.
The USB C format plug does not guarantee a connection type or device compatibility :/ I learned this the hard way on my I7 7779 by purchasing a RECOMMENDED FOR MY DEVICE dock that Dell claims is compatible but is not. It is in fact STILL on the "Essential Accessories" page for my new laptop and does not work at all.
You would think Dell would know if THEIR Dell branded dock would work with it or not :/

All, this one from Kensington is working:

I just got it and the only port I didn't try was HDMI but all else worked simultaneously.
