Inspiron 14z 5423 and Dell Monitor U2515H

Hello,

I recently bought a new Dell U2515H Monitor which is capable of 2450x1440 resolution.

I connected it to my Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 laptop using HDMI (there's no DP on the laptop).

The 5423 comes with two display adapters: an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7570M, which supports 2450x1440 resolution.

However, Windows only allows me set the external monitor's display up to 2048x1152 resolution.

Does this mean it uses the integrated card for the display?

Is there any way to fix this?

(All my drivers are updated to the latest versions)

Thanks

Ben

This is a software-controlled hybrid - the AMD GPU doesn't have a physical connection to the display device, so the Intel GPU does control the maximum resolution of the screen, whether internal or external.  While there are indeed two display processors, the AMD GPU is just a co-processor for the Intel one.

Thanks,

so there's no option of using the full resolution?

there's an option for "custom resolution" in the Intel "Graphics Options" control panel, but would that be ok to use?

You can try it;  I'm not sure what the max HDMI resolution is for this Intel GPU.
