Inspiron 1525 Front indicator lights have stopped functioning
My Inspiron 1525 front indicator lighhts have just quit functioning. the unit has been out of warranty since Jan of this year. Thats about par for Dell. This is the second laptop that I have owned from them. The first was just out of warranty also. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing the lights not to work?

Well, definately a hardware issue. There is a small ribbon cable that connects from the system board to the status lights. You might want to check to see if it came loose. You need to remove the power button cover and the keyboard to get to it.

What do you mean by " front indicator lights"? The media lights that are next to the power button, or the lights for power, battery charge, bluetooth and hard drive activity that are near the touchpad? If you are referring to the media lights, (stop, play, mute, etc.) there is just a small ribbon cable that connects the power button cover to the motherboard. There are 2 screws under the battery that hold the power button cover on. Take it off and make sure the ribbon cable has not come loose.
Good luck.

Facing the laptop, they are the lights on the left corner of the bottom section of the laptop, they show the power on, battery charging, hard drive activity, wifi. They have all quit working. When I have the charger pluged in the lights don't work, but the system is showing charging by the icon on the bottom right of the screen.

OK, I am having the same problem : the device status lights stopped working awhile ago. I have already taken things apart and connected the LED connector. Still no lights. Is there any sort of software that I am missing? Is it possible that the light itself is out and needs to be replaced? Is that something I can do?
Thanks
