Inspiron 1525 HDCP support

To give you a quick update: opened case with Intel Technical Support.
My question was about HDCP specifically and not playback of high definition video in general.
My model (purchased from Staples) does not have Broadcom Media PC card :(

I believe the issue is specific to the Philips TV, no fix for now.
I am about to give up… maybe future drivers and/or TV firmware will fix it.

1. We have confirmed the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family supports
  High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)

2. We noticed that the graphics driver version you are currently running is 7.14.10.1409
   and the latest Intel(R) Graphic Driver offered is version PV15.9 (7.14.10.1472).
   To download the latest generic driver from the Intel Download Center, visit:
   http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2800

  Make sure to read the “Read Me” document that comes with the drivers prior to installation.
  The latest version of the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family reference drivers is PV15.9

3. The issue you are experiencing has not been duplicated nor have other customers reported it

4. High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is embedded on the Mobile Intel(R) 965

  Graphic Driver.

Thank you for your timely response, unfortunately it did not solve the issue.
 
I manually installed the latest driver from the Intel site following the instructions
for the work-around: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm
Still no go - the following information is from the CyberLink BD/HD Advisor log

- Video Connection Type : Digital (without HDCP)
 
Your statement "3. The issue you are experiencing has not been duplicated nor have
other customers reported it" made me try with another DVI/HDCP monitor (24" Acer x243w)
and surprise: the CyberLink Advisor reports connection type Digital (with DHCP)

So it is an issue between Intel and Philips - the Dell laptop with Mobile Intel 965 Express
Chipset and the Philips LCD TV 47PFL7422D/37. Btw, I use the HDMI inputs on the TV
with other sources: Toshiba HD-A30 / HD-A3 players and desktop PC with PNY nVidia
GeForce 8600GT card (with DVI-HDMI cable) without any HDCP handshake issues.

Updated the TV firmware to the latest version: Q531U-0.64.14.18 released April 15, 2008
This was my last hope - very recent firmware - but it didn't help either...

  so i tried the new 15.9 driver i don't get playback via dvi, i always get the error: that there is no hdcp

  support. i reinstalled the system, i tried PowerDVD 7.3, i tried Total Media Theater, i tried PowerDVD 8

  Ultra. No chance. So i borrow a Ati Radeon 3650 and it works, with PowerDVD 7.3, with PowerDVD 8.0

  and with the Total Media Theater, no problem. I think Intel have to do there homework. Intel worries

  me. One of the biggest company is unable to write graphicsdrivers. I only had problems, whatever i do

  with this onboard graphic. I'm frustrated :(.

1. In order to better isolate your issue, we need more detailed information.
Please reply to this e-mail with the answers to the following questions:
 
- What does your computer manufacturer have to say about the issues you are experiencing?
- Have you tried different Intel(R) Graphic Driver versions?
- Is there any other device connected to your system that may affect the Intel(R) Graphic Driver
  from working properly?
- Are you using any of the following cable adapters/converters?
  S-Video to HDMI / HDMI to HDMI / DVI to HDMI / VGA to HDMI
  If indeed you are using any of the above adapters, did the laptop manufacturer provide them?
