Inspiron 1545 wont charge get warning message

My laptop keeps giving me this message at boot up "The Ac power adapter type cannot determined. Your system will operate slower and the battary  will not charge. Please connect a dell 65w ac adapter or higher for best system operation" I have tried 2 chargers and am getting the same problem and when i go in to the bios i get 2 battery option

Battery info  "idle 0% charged"

Battery health "not installed"

   Is there anyway of finding out if the battery is at fault as I dont want to have to buy a new one only to find out there something wrong with the laptop
