Inspiron 15R SE 7520

i want to upgrade my ram to 8gb by adding a additional 4gb ddr3 module.

pls suggest me the best option for my laptop.

Inspiron 15R SE 7520,

my current 4gb Ram

i had purchased a 4gb ram of Transcend (TS512MSK64W6H), After installing my laptop started behaving wieardly.

BSOD with memory management and some related errors started coming. i was not able to work for an hour with out  a restart. Half of the application used to crash while opening.

so pls suggest me with best Ram which will be 100% compatible.

Thanks & Regards,

  • Both processors are from the Ivy Bridge family (HM77 Express Chipset) = no compatibility issues
  • Because your laptop owns 2 ram slots, you are forced using 2x4gb ram modules
  • It is a common standard buying 2 same brand modules (avoiding issues)
  • Currently you have a Micron ram module
  • So, you can try finding the same ram module
  • Or, buying 2 other identical pairs.

  • Local stores can help you directly naming your laptop brand & model
  • Otherwise you can visit a webshop selling ram modules.
  • Most of these stores got a online wizard tool helping you buying the right ram module.
  • Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

We would not recommend an upgrade as its a non Dell part .

Any upgrade or change in non Dell part will void warranty and will not be support ,however will not be able comment on the compatibility of the part with a Dell System as they have not been tested .

Thanks

How can you treat Ram as non dell part.?

i understand its not manufactured by DELL, but without it does your DELL laptop power up?

so pls don't ignore by saying its none of DELL's concern.

Laptop came with 4gb ram,its wasn't just inserted by itself. Some technician did a research and decided to plug in and ship. so in same way i am asking you which brand and specification should i buy to upgrade.

Above ram i purchased after matching all specification with the current one and still the system dint accepted. So kindly enlighten me, still what am i missing!!!!!

Hi,

  • I also own the same model.
  • +/- 2 years ago I performed a ram upgrade by selling the original 4g module and buying 2x4gb same brand modules
  • see details below

  • Officially Dell supports 8gb ram on this model
  • However, I saw on youtube a 16gb ram upgrade video
  • link:
  • But I am not sure about stability issues
  • In the near future I will try also a 16gb ram upgrade
  • I will share the result.
