Inspiron 17 / 7000 Series / 7737 -- Not recognizing A/C Adaptor/Not Charging
Received my new Inspiron in December. About two months ago, it stopped charging when connected to the AC supply. BIOS showed the AC adapter was not recognized or NONE. Tech support sends out a guy and he installs a new mother board and brings me a new AC pack.
Today, it happens again. Notice the computer is darker and turning off. Look at the charge indicator and it is not recognizing the AC charger again. Call tech support...
BIOS is not up to date. Took control of my system and tried to install... but it would not update as it did not see the AC plugged in. Now they are sending another tech back with a new mother board... and daughter board and another AC brick.
Questions:
- Is this a "thing"?
- Are there a ton of faulty motherboards out there right now? They are using "refurbished parts" so my assumption is I can go through a few until I get lucky with one that works for the long run.
- Has anyone gotten a new laptop if the same thing keeps happening? Is there a computer lemon rule?
- Any suggestions beyond the BIOS update and motherboard replacements suggested?
I was not told update the BIOS after the last replacement. I know it was not done when the tech was out. I am going to update after the next install this week. Could that have caused the problem a second time?
I have had 10 Dells over the years and never had a problem. Very annoying!!!! Thanks in advance for any response.

Apologies for posting with out reading down the line... I guess it is a thing if someone posted the same problem 45 minutes before I wrote this post... any other answers to my other questions would be great. Cheers!

I have a similar thing with my laptop (Inspiron 17 (7737). Only it is not discharging. Power icon reads "plugged in, not charging"; although it never drops below 90%. Is this due to fail? I checked the AC adapter and made sure everything is properly connected. I even updated the BIOS. Is it a software problem or is my power supply due to fail sometime?
