Inspiron 1720 restoration question(s)

I have an Inspiron 1720 that came factory fitted with 2 x 160GB hard disk drives. HDD1's partition table seems to have been corrupted. Using PartedMagic I can access HDD2 and have recovered my documents. I have also copied the Hidden recovery drive folder called "Dell" and hope to restore the laptop from the image files/restore apps held therein.

The question is: Does anyone know how the two drives will have been configured by Dell. Will they have been part of a RAID set? The operating system reinstallation DVD provided with the laptop, only appears to be a MS OS disk and is not a recovery/restoration disk for the laptop and at this stage I hope to be able to retain the partions and data that are still intact on the HDD2 drive.

Any advice/help will be gratefullt accepted.
