Inspiron 17R laptop, windows 8, Grey screen on start up will not boot

my sister's dell 17R laptop won't boot up after download and install the VGA driver from dell.com.  it powers on briefly shows the white dell screen, then the LCD screen turns gray.  the laptop has been doing all fine until updating the dell-recommended VGA driver.

HELP?
