Inspiron 3148 touch-screen not working after lid closed/opened or sleep entered/left

Hi,

More often than not when I:

1) close the lid and re-open it (I've configured the action on closing lid to be "do nothing")

or

2) put the device into sleep then wake it up

the touch screen completely stops working.

The only way to fix the issue is to restart or power-cycle the device.

Has anyone else seen this issue and been able to fix it?

Many Thanks,

Alan

I had the same problem with my Inspiron i7559 running Windows 10 Pro. I have the "choose what happens when lid is closed" option set to "do nothing". It seems I have solved my problem by taking these steps, so I hope this helps. 1. Open Device Manager 2. Expand "Human Interface Devices" 3. Right click: "HID-compliant touch screen" 4. Click "Properties" 5. Click the "Power Management" tab 6. Check the box by "Allow this device to wake the computer" 7. Click "OK" 8. Restart computer I think what is happening is Windows is disabling the touch screen when you close the lid simultaneously with turning off the display. When you open the lid (screen), the display turns on, but the touch screen behaves as though the lid is still closed. That's my best guess anyway. Hope this helps!
